Csilla Kaposvári MSc, MSc - Acting Director
She holds an MSc in Psychology from Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences, with a specialization in health psychology, and an MSc in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has further non-diploma education in international health policy issues as well as social epidemiology. In 2001, she joined the Budapest Open Society Institute's International Policy Fellowships program as a coordinator responsible for international health policy research projects and fellow activities. Since 2002 she has been an analyst with the department of health monitoring and epidemiology of non-communicable diseases in the National Center for Epidemiology. She participated in the adaptation and implementation of the WHO-World Health Survey in Hungary and the National Health Interview Survey 2003. After returning from London, she as the head of department led the health information activities within the national public health service. She and her group at the National Center for Epidemiology operated the national network of health monitoring and published 7 regional public health reports, prepared annual national health reports for the MoH, analyzed and electronically published results of the National Health Interview Survey 2003 and organized two national health statistics and health information forums. She was also the main organizer of an international joint UNECE/WHO/EUROSTAT conference in Budapest on the measurement of health status. She prepared a policy document for the MoH on the establishment of public health observatories in Hungary. She is involved in projects funded by Eurostat on the adoption of the European Health Interview Survey and by DG SANCO on public health reporting and web-based health information and knowledge management system (PIA-PHR, EUPHIX projects). She was a senior researcher in the Center for Health Research at the Social Research Institute Inc. between 2007. Recently she is one of the directors of HealthMonitor.

József Vitrai - Acting Director
He graduated at Eötvös Loránd University of Sciences, Budapest in biology and received a university doctoral degree in 1983. In the beginning of his research carrier, his area of expertise was the multivariate statistical analysis of electric brain signals. Then he took part in pharmacoepidemiological research in the USA for more than 3 years. In 1994, he returned to Hungary and started activities in the field of psychiatric epidemiological research. Since 1988, he has been working on the introduction of modern health interview survey methodology and practice in Hungary, within this he managed the implementations of the National Health Interview Surveys in 2000 and 2003. He is one of the initiator of launching a modern health monitoring system in Hungary, that is, among others the Hungarian Health Database, the Public Health Report in 2004, Health Information Forum and the establishment of the National Center for Drug Information and Focal Point. His recent area of interest is the use of health information and evidence in health policy making. In 2003 he took part in the preparation of the national health information strategy. In 2005 he, as the head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Development at Ministry of Health led the preparation of the Health System Development Concept. Since spring 2006, he was the head of the Center for Health Research in the Social Research Institute Inc. Since 2007 he is one of the directors of HealthMonitor. In the last years he led researches in the field of health inequity and drug use. In 2010 he and his co-workers prepared a report on the health of the Hungarian population; the first comprehensive one since 2004. He also publishes and gives presentations on his critical views on the Hungarian health system.
He has about 110 publications in peer-reviewed journals with a cumulative impact factor of 34.
